As the digital landscape is ever changing, organic search rankings are crucial and even more valuable to businesses than ever before. Businesses of any size, large and small can benefit from Organic rankings from search as well as benefit from a higher position in Google. As most algorithms are well guarded but some hints are dropped by Google and alike that can help aid in your strategy. As updates are a regular thing, it but also must be acknowledge what has worked in the past may now to be reviewed.

In some instances, we have seen updates working against your site and hindering the rankings. When these are launched, SEO experts can make informed decisions about what parts of the strategy is working and what will need to be done to ensure the Google bots can still crawl your site effectively. Many practices have of course been and gone, but some that have evolved and remain crucial in the goal of achieving good search engine results pages or SERPs. When growing your brand using Organic traffic, below we outline the SEO best practices you should consider building your strategies in conjunction with to achieve successful results.

If you’re looking to grow your brand using natural organic traffic, here are the SEO practices you should be integrating and building your strategies around to see success.

How to use your SEO Keywords

The correct keywords are critical to your SEO success and key in high rankings for search. These can be single words or full phrases that are integrated into content to attract relevant as well as brand new traffic. These keywords are what is typed into a search engine when users are looking to buy something, learn something or follow something! Google essentially rewards relevancy, when you use you thoroughly researched Keywords, your target audience will easily be able to find what they are looking for.

Research as to the keywords is in some way the easy bit – the skill comes in when you use these effectively and make an impact. No matter the changes in the Google algorithms so far, the importance of these to convert organic searchers is imperative. These Keywords give you valuable data on what your audience is searching for. When you know what these are, you can tailor your content and offering to meet the exacting needs of your audience. Making this experience really personal can see these users return again and again. Looking at your keywords as a type of persona can help with this – you can visualise the specific type of users and be relevant instead of trying to be all things to all!

Redirected Pages

It is essential to know if any of the pages on your site are redirected. The reason this is so key is that this can affect your rank results in search engines. There are many reasons for redirecting a page, such as moving a product from one category to another, but whatever they are, it is important that this is done correctly so as not to impact your SEO negatively. In these instances, you would need to use a 301 redirect which signals to the browser that this page has moved and is in a new location for any visitors to that page. As it stands, a 301 redirect will not affect ranking as in the past it did.

There are other considerations however. When creating re-direct chains, it is imperative to ensure this is not slowing down your user experience and affect your SERP rankings detrimentally. You use a 301 checker to identify these issues and a server header checker to show you results for your response header. A HTTP/Response header is the information that a web server sends back to a browser when receiving and HTTP request. This information, could be an image, submitting information, or deleting information, as examples. An HTTP header check allows you view HTTP headers to see if a URL or page has been redirected. If this is the case, the header checker will show the destination URL as well as the HTTP status code, so you can see the exact data with an HTTP status checker and highlight any problems. This can also be used to check the headers of an email using Google’s free tool which is called Google Header Analyzer. This will tell you how long an email has spent in a given location and see the journey the email has taken from one mail transfer agent to the next and the time spent at each one.  This allows a greater understanding as to why an email is delayed or response is slow.
