5 Reasons To Avoid Guaranteed SEO Services

| 2 minutes to read

Every week I receive emails from companies offering guaranteed SEO services and promising to get your site ranking on the first page of Google. These emails should be banned. I will explain why in this blog.

SEO Companies Cannot Control Search Engines Or Competitor Websites

The SEO company only has control over your website and content. SEO is an aspect of digital marketing that is difficult to control and predict. Search engines and their algorithms are outside of a company’s control, you cannot guarantee the success of SEO.

SEO companies can really improve your rankings, but no way should they be making guarantees to get you to position 1 as there are so many factors involved in ranking a website. All it takes is for search engines to change their algorithms or your competitors to ramp up their SEO activity and your website could end up moving further down the SERPs.

Being Number One Doesn’t Really Mean Anything

Being in position 1 for certain keywords will not guarantee conversions. They might not convert and become customers. You need to optimise the site to improve your conversion rates. This will then mean that each additional organic visitor you get has a higher chance to convert.

SEO Is A Long-Term Strategy

Most SEO companies that offer guaranteed SEO also offer fast service. This simply isn’t possible. SEO is a long-term strategy. That means it takes time to gain more organic traffic. You won’t see results overnight.

We tell all our clients SEO is a long-term investment rather than a campaign-style ‘project’ with a definitive start and end date. Performance improvements can of course be achieved in this way, but SEO performance gains can compound over time, meaning that the longer you ‘invest’ in the channel, the more performance will ‘compound’ and improve over time. How Long Does SEO Take to Work in 2022 explains it really well.

The Keywords Matter

The company that emails you might be offering you guaranteed SEO for 50 keywords but these keywords might be completely irrelevant to your business.

Ranking higher in the results for a high search volume keyword with the correct search intent is far more effective than ranking first for worthless keywords that won’t bring in visitors.

It Increases The Risk Of Black-Hat SEO

Companies that offer guaranteed SEO and quick results should not be trusted. These companies are more likely to use black-hat SEO techniques that can harm your website.

Search engines want their users to have a great experience. They don’t accept SEO techniques that focus on search engines before users.

Working with a company that uses black-hat SEO tactics can get you results in the short term but this could mean your website is then banned from search engines. Google’s Webmaster Guidelines state that such violations “may lead to a site being removed entirely from the Google index or otherwise affected by an algorithmic or manual spam action.”

No trustworthy digital marketing agency will promise you guaranteed SEO results. Make sure you do your research and be wary of anyone offering promises that are too good to be true.
