Last night was the first ever SotonDigital event, which was arranged by Dan Harrison from WordPress Doctors. There has been talk about arranging a local get together for a while now and Dan pulled this together and arranged a really good night.
There was a great turnout of 48 people from different agencies both web and search around the Southampton area which was held in Yuzu in Bedford Place. Dan had arranged for the top floor of the bar to be reserved for the event and it was really nice to see so many people make an effort to attend.
This is the only industry that I have worked in where people from other agencies get together, share ideas and talk about new initiatives that are on the horizon. It is such a friendly industry and it is great to be a part of that. There were nine of us from the Koozai team and we all met great new faces from some of the other local agencies including Vertical Leap, Intelligent Retail, Plug and Play® , Atelier SEO and Ping Sweetie. It was also good to see people there for local businesses looking to learn a little more about the digital marketing industry.
The next event is planned for October and this time round it is going to be more of a mini conference. Dan Harrison will be sending out feedback questionnaires to all attendees from last night to get their thoughts on how the next event should take place so when you receive the email, please take the time to fill it in as all suggestions and feedback will be welcomed.
All in all, it was a great evening and we are all looking forward to the next SotonDigital and hope to see a lot more faces for the event. Big thanks to Dan for arranging it, brilliant idea which should turn out to be a regular get together for all the local search marketers.
Last month, we tuned in to listen to our very own Samantha Noble become a radio star. As a guest on Xan Phillips’ The Business on Voice FM, a programme dedicated to promoting the good news stories about business from the Southampton area and beyond, Sam shared her insights into paid media.
The Drum Network has launched a new initiative called ‘Create Britain’ which aims to show the world that Great Britain is still an awesomely creative marketplace, despite Brexit.
Create Britain is an online interactive map that invites businesses from the creative industry to contribute a short video to claim their own pin on the map that links to their video clip. The video clips need to answer one question: ‘What makes British creativity so great?’.
