Marketing managers are being told that Yahoo! should be weary of the growing challenge of Facebook, despite an ambitious advertising campaign.
Search Engine Land remarked that, despite the internet company’s attempts to position itself as a more desirable homepage destination to Google with more tools available to users, its promotion seemed "misguided and off the mark".
Furthermore, the blog warned that Yahoo! may lose consumers to the growing rival of social media network Facebook.
This assertion may be of interest to marketing professionals, including those who look to utilise professional SEO services as part of a wider online promotion strategy for their company.
In addition, it argued that rather than building a "brand image", Yahoo! would be better placed to invest in creating or improving specific products.
Meanwhile, social media appears to concentrate the minds of company recruiters, including o2, which has hiring in specialist roles to better engage with its users.
