Companies have been advised to compare their organic search results on Yahoo! and Bing.

Websites Advised to Compare Yahoo! and Bing search results As a result of the Yahoo! and Microsoft Search Alliance agreement, Yahoo!’s search results will be powered by Bing within the next couple of months.

Because of this, the Yahoo! Search Marketing Blog has recommended users of SEO services work out which keywords work best for them ahead of the transition taking place.

It added that businesses should then “decide if you’d like to modify your paid search campaigns to compensate for any changes in organic referrals that you anticipate”.

Following the change, around 30 per cent of Yahoo! search results will be taken from Bing listings, meaning that companies should optimise their websites for the Microsoft platform crawler.

Yahoo! has recently announced changes to its Answers service which will allow users to organise results by categories such as newest or oldest articles and most or fewest answers.
