The vast majority of companies which frequently advertise on Google are planning to run paid search campaigns over the festive period.

Vast Majority of Advertisers 'Running Festive Display Campaigns' In a blog post advising websites to utilise this opportunity, Kristin Hall, a spokeswoman for the Google AdSense team, explained there is expected to be increased demand for advertising space in the run-up to Christmas.

"[Around] 99 per cent of Google's 1,000 largest advertisers run display campaigns and focus a lot of their budget during the holiday season," she noted.

Ms Hall added both the websites that host commercials and advertisers can benefit from the use of the search engine's ad placements service, which provides details about audience demographic and where promotions will appear on each webpage.

According to Search Engine Land columnist Matt Van Wagner, companies using pay per click services should put their focus on their top-performing keyword terms as the important holiday shopping season begins to get underway.
