Retail companies conducting SEO campaigns have been advised to ensure they come up with unique product descriptions.
Writing on citizen journalism website Helium, columnist Christiana Pomoni stated that users of SEO services can employ a few basic techniques to drive traffic to their website, including selecting appropriate keywords and choosing a suitable domain name.
Businesses can also get higher search engine rankings with the use of unique product descriptions, she advised.
"If you simply copy the original manufacturer's description, you don't add value to your product and you certainly don't add your personal touch that can make you stand out from your competitors," Ms Pomoni stated.
Last week, Econsultancy blogger Matt Owen said businesses need to ensure they are focused on converting site visits into sales.
He explained that many companies fall down in this area and need to make their buying processes more user-friendly, as well as including calls to action such as 'Buy Now' buttons on their site.
