The number of visits to Twitter by European internet users has increased by 106 per cent in 12 months.
According to a new comScore report, since June 2009 there was a global increase of 109 per cent in Twitter usage, with almost 93 million unique users visiting the site in June 2010.
About 22.5 million of them were from Europe, with around 25 million from America.
Latin America saw the highest growth in user numbers in the period, up 305 per cent.
Graham Mudd, comScore vice president for search and media, said: “Twitter has experienced an explosion in global traffic over the past year, establishing itself as one of the most-visited social networking sites across each of the five worldwide regions.”
Earlier this month, companies using link building services were advised that Twitter is launching a new ‘Suggestions for You’ tool, which will encourage users to follow a variety of relevant people and organisations.
