Marketing managers are learning that Twitter is the leading online medium for passing on video streams, according to new research.
Data from TubeMogul and reported by Mashable shows that the real-time social media network average monthly growth for 2010 in terms of links referred is 28.24 per cent.
A point that may interest industry professionals, including those who use professional link building services as part of a wider online strategy, is that Twitter commands a better rate of expansion than its three closest rivals put together – Facebook, Google and Yahoo!.
Writing for Marketing Pilgrim, Frank Reed suggested that one of the theories behind this growth is the ease with which users can retweet information including an address for a video.
He hinted that many followers of any given feed on the network may pass the stream link on to others without watching it for themselves, because they trust the judgement of the original post, when it has been "rubber stamped".
