Twitter has launched an official Tweet Button available to all websites.
Such tools are already seen on many pages, but up until now have been provided by third parties such as TweetMeme.
Users of link building services were advised that the new application is designed to make sharing articles simple for people interested in passing on the content on a website to their Twitter followers.
"The Tweet Button will help publishers grow traffic and increase their Twitter following," the official Twitter blog commented.
When internet users click on the button, a Tweet box will appear which will be pre-filled with a shortened link that points to the item being shared.
Earlier this week, a comScore report revealed that Twitter usage grew by 106 per cent in Europe between June 2009 and June 2010 – part of an overall global 109 per cent increase in the use of the social networking site.
