It is likely that 2010 will be the year of social media marketing, in the opinion of one expert.

Social Media Marketing 'Will Take Off' in 2010 Speaking at the Technology For Marketing & Advertising (TFM&A) 2010 event, which took place at Earl’s Court recently, Darren Dutton, business director at Marketing.co.uk, said that SEO marketing services are beginning to change their focus.

This means that over the past 12 to 24 months, more and more businesses have been giving social media portals their attention when it comes to attracting consumers, he explained.

"Other companies in other sectors, whether that be the financial sector or the construction sector, will maybe start tapping into social media to connect to their target audiences," Mr Dutton continued.

He stated that this trend is likely to continue for the next year.

A variety of industry experts attended the TFM&A event, with representatives from the likes of Google, Facebook, YouTube and AMV BBDO delivering keynote sessions.
