Local businesses looking to use search engine optimisation (SEO) to market themselves on the internet could benefit from a new service called CityGrid, which has been developed by Citysearch.
This is the opinion of one writer for Search Engine Land, who explained that the tool was launched last week and offers a local advert exchange and market place for firms who decide they want to incorporate professional SEO marketing services into their promotional strategy.
Greg Sterling wrote: "Basically Citysearch is making any and all of its content and advertisers available to third parties (and specifically smaller publishers and mobile developers)."
In his view, the product could help get quality leads to local marketers and provide traffic for publishers who do not want to rely on just one search engine such as Google.
He suggested that it could also offer "better monetisation" for those local firms involved.
This week, the same writer highlighted how Google has developed its local business adverts, which allows firms to have an enhanced listing on the search engine’s maps tool.
