The use of search engine optimisation (SEO) techniques to get a higher ranking on Bing will have a knock-on effect on results on Yahoo! search pages.
According to an article on the Computing website, this is because of the link-up between Bing owner Microsoft and Yahoo!, which has seen the former company providing the technology for the latter.
"This means that optimising a search engine ranking for Bing will also improve content relevance for Yahoo’s search engine as well," the article told users of SEO services.
According to recent data from comScore, Bing usage grew by 70 per cent during last year and the site now hosts 12.1 per cent of all searches.
Yahoo! is responsible for 18.3 per cent of searches.
Earlier this week, John Campbell, a blogger for Windows 7 News, said that recent changes to the user interface of Bing have helped it catch up with rivals such as Google.
