A search engine optimisation (SEO) expert has claimed that internet users show different characteristics in browsing habits.
Marketing professionals, including those who use SEO services, are being told that three searcher profiles exist, according to an article written by George Michie in Search Engine Land.
He identified these as "Trademark Tracy", who search by brand name; "Yellow Page Paul" who base their queries on product category as opposed to brand and "Modern Mary" who enter specific search terms and knows what they want.
Through a random sample of clients, Mr Michie went on to suggest why conversion rates for general terms are lower compared with specific demands from individuals.
He believed the answer was not linked with any lack of buyer intent but because of an inability to pinpoint their desires when venturing online to shop.
Meanwhile, Google’s latest mobile search application may capitalise on an expanding smartphone market worldwide, according to its official blog.
