Companies have been advised to combine their SEO and social media marketing campaigns.

SEO and Social Media Marketing 'Should Be Intertwined' According to a post by industry commentator David Holt on the My Customer website, many marketing budgets have faced cuts in recent times as businesses look to save money.

He said this means marketers have to be cannier about the money they are spending.

Mr Holt advised that intertwining SEO services and social media efforts could be one sensible move.

"Organic SEO means letting the strength of your website content, news flows, in-bound links and social media activity help drive up your website hits, search results and rankings," he explained.

Earlier this week, Vilie Farah, a writer for citizen journalism website Helium, said producing relevant content is a website’s most important weapon when it comes to SEO.

She stated that articles should contain relevant keywords, but there must not be too many as this can be penalised by search engines.
