Companies may want to make some changes to their website content as the popularity of tablet computers continues to grow, it has been suggested.

Search Engines 'May Need to Change for Tablet Computers' Writing for Search Engine Watch, Duncan Perry explained how search engines and firms using professional SEO services will need to tailor their interfaces so they can be displayed on such devices.

This means that video content may need to be made available in HTML 5 format, especially as many users will not want to install apps that allow them to view this type of media correctly.

Similarly, Mr Perry urged businesses to assess how their landing pages will be displayed on the browsers used by tablet computers, as some will not work.

He gives Google Reader as an example, pointing out that "it relies on a lot on scrolling up and down lists of feeds and within articles", which can be difficult without a mouse.

Meanwhile, Larry Small recently wrote for Search Engine Land that more and more firms are promoting themselves at a local level using digital and mobile outlets.
