The effective use of keywords has an important role to play in a website obtaining a high search engine ranking.

Search Engine Listing 'Reliant on Keywords' According to Search Engine Watch commentator John Greer, a high position is very important to businesses, as it will encourage more traffic to their sites.

He explained that a search engine listing is generally made up of a URL, page title and meta description, all of which can be tweaked by professional SEO services to include more relevant keywords.

Mr Greer said that it is important to have keywords in each of the categories, as "Google and Bing will bold words in a listing that match the search query".

Last week, David Dalka, another Search Engine Watch columnist, said that it is vital for companies to have a search marketing strategy in place.

"Search marketing is rapidly becoming the lead strategic marketing process," he stated, adding that global business leaders should be aware of this trend.
