Search and Social Media “Closely Connected”

Search engine marketing performance can be improved by companies having a social media presence, according to one expert.

Search and Social Media 'Closely Connected' Jake Hird, senior research analyst at Econsultancy, told firms using professional link building services that a brand is likely to be more visible to users if it gets involved in blogs and social networks and he stated that the two aspects are connected to each other.

"It doesn’t matter what it is … if you’ve got a blog, everyone knows if you blog it improves your natural search visibility – and of course a blog is social media," he said.

The expert also noted that sites like Facebook and Twitter carry text-based paid search adverts, which provide a strong link to SEO marketing.

His comments follow research published by online competitive intelligence service Experian Hitwise earlier this week, which revealed social networks received more visits from UK internet users than search engines during May.

I can personally vouch this aspect of the close knit relationship between SEO and Social Media. A blog is a blog! If one is a good blogger -and blog regularly on the given niche – he/she is to attract more visitors and visibility which is more targeted. One does not require to be explained that, the more visible, the more traffic and the more traffic.

Its not only blogs – but if one participates of Twitter, Facebook and sites like them and build a group of people/friends who are interested in the same industry, then the revenue is bound to increase quite high.
I personally have reaped the benefit for one of my sites from Twittering.
