Search engine marketing performance can be improved by companies having a social media presence, according to one expert.
Jake Hird, senior research analyst at Econsultancy, told firms using professional link building services that a brand is likely to be more visible to users if it gets involved in blogs and social networks and he stated that the two aspects are connected to each other.
"It doesn’t matter what it is … if you’ve got a blog, everyone knows if you blog it improves your natural search visibility – and of course a blog is social media," he said.
The expert also noted that sites like Facebook and Twitter carry text-based paid search adverts, which provide a strong link to SEO marketing.
His comments follow research published by online competitive intelligence service Experian Hitwise earlier this week, which revealed social networks received more visits from UK internet users than search engines during May.
