One industry commentator has advised businesses not to waste time with pointless link-building if they want to drive traffic to their website.
Writing for Econsultancy, Jake Hird said that he finds it "incredibly irritating" when people post comments on blogs and forums that serve no purpose other than to link-build.
He described these as "half-baked" attempts to improve web traffic from SEO services and said that he is often "darkly amused" by the comments.
"Even if you are able to create live links, then comments of little value, or blatant sales-pitches where they’re not needed are annoying," Mr Hird added.
As a result, it may be better for enterprises to employ the help of professional SEO services to ensure the job is done properly.
A better way to direct users to a website could be to use pay per click campaigns, which often generate interest almost immediately, an article on BigNews.biz advised.
