The paid search market is to grow busier in the next few weeks as Christmas draws ever closer, it has been predicted.
This is according to a blog post from the Bing team, which noted shoppers are hoping to time their purchases to take advantage of the best special offers from users of pay per click services.
Sales trends are expected to follow a similar pattern to those recorded last year.
"Researchers at Microsoft found that in 2009 there were ten to 13 per cent week-over-week increases in clicks on retail paid search ads in the first two weeks of December," the post explained.
According to the recently-published IMRG Capgemini e-Retail Sales Index report, the Christmas shopping season is already well underway in the UK.
Its research found online sales of gifts were up 76 per cent in October, with shoppers spending a combined total of £5.2 billion during the month.
