Companies running SEO campaigns should make sure their optimisation work takes account of Bing as well as Google.
This is the view of Promotion World commentator Roger Janik, who said Bing is starting to catch up with its larger search engine rival and is going to continue to grow in size and popularity.
He noted that Microsoft – which is behind Bing – has teamed up the service with Yahoo! recently, while the search engine will soon be able to make use of the new technological opportunities.
"With cloud computing heating up … Bing also will likely be integrated with Microsoft's Azure cloud technologies, possibly directing or keeping plenty of businesses and Window's users with Microsoft and using Bing," Mr Janik predicted.
He told users of SEO services that optimising for Bing is not too different to doing so for Google, with high-quality content a key area of focus for both.
Bing recently introduced an Inbound Links feature to its Webmaster Tools facility, giving users more information on how well their links are performing.
