Google claims that getting involved in online communities is the best way for new website owners to create organic, quality links to their pages.

Online Communities 'Help Link Building' According to a post on the search engine’s Webmaster Central Blog, joining forums and interacting on blogs is the perfect link building strategy.

However, Google warned against spamming and stressed that the contributions must be positive so firms can establish a good reputation and encourage people to visit the domain.

Another way to drive traffic is to use tools such as Google Buzz, which encourages people to share entertaining content and encourage link building through humour.

"If you offer long-lasting, unique and compelling content – something that lets your expertise shine – people will want to recommend it to others," the search engine added.

Another way in which website owners may be able to drive traffic to their pages is to pay attention to keyword competitors as well as companies offering similar services within the same sector, internet marketing specialist Kristi Hines recently noted on Search Engine Watch.
