There is likely to be an increase in search engine queries related to different new year's resolutions in the next couple of weeks.

New Year's Resolutions 'Set to Feature in Search Terms' This is according to a blog post from the Bing team, who told users of SEO services that at this time last year, the most popular terms in this area were related to weight.

It resulted in words and phrases such as calories, calorie counters and Body Mass Index being entered into search engines by internet users keen to reform their habits.

The second most popular resolution was to work on fitness levels, resulting in increased interest in services related to home gym equipment such as treadmills.

"We also saw a 24 per cent increase in people looking for classes of various kinds, from educational to recreational, in the month of January," added the Bing representatives.

Earlier this month, Promotion World columnist Roger Janik said online businesses should be optimising their websites for Bing to take advantage of the service's growing popularity.
