An industry expert has predicted that 2010 could see website owners trying to get links that promote web traffic.
Writing for Search Engine Land, Julie Joyce claimed that search engines such as Google have started cracking down on sites using paid links, which may affect some businesses’ pay per click management decisions.
She explained that some sites attempt to attract links that bring higher rankings rather than more traffic, but this trend could change this year.
Ms Joyce added: "I fully expect that emailed link requests will continue to be effective, despite the fact that many people say this method is dead."
In her view, a blog that can stand as an authority on a niche topic has the potential to drive plenty of traffic through one link within a page.
Sandra Niehaus told the same news provider that a helpful tip when designing and carrying out an online marketing campaign is for advertisers to ensure that they have a precise goal.
