Link Strategies ‘May Change to Suit Place Search’

Companies may have to alter their link strategies as a result of the arrival of Google Place Search.

Link Strategies 'May Change to Suit Place Search' This is the view of Search Engine Land's Eric Ward, who explained that the type of link building campaign being run will be a large factor in whether adjustments are needed.

He said that high-quality links will still retain their value, meaning those businesses aiming to build their online credibility and click traffic through link building should not be overly affected.

"The links you needed before are still needed now, unless you were just chasing rank via link building, in which case I strongly suggest you change your linking strategies," Mr Ward went on to note.

Google Place Search works by clustering results around specific locations to make it easier for internet users to compare the services of local businesses.

Related reviews are also grouped underneath search results, in order to display more relevant links on the same Google page.
