Link Profile ‘Should Be Adaptable’

Companies running SEO campaigns have been advised they need to be flexible when it comes to their link profile.

Link Profile 'Should Be Adaptable' Search Engine Land commentator Julie Joyce explained link building and SEO work should be viewed as ongoing efforts, due to the changeable nature of search engine algorithms.

"You also want what you've done to be adaptable in order to update it to match what's newly favoured in the major search engines without harming it in others," she advised.

Ms Joyce said including links to non-keyword related terms can be a potentially good strategy in making a website rank more highly on search engine results pages.

Her comments follow those made by fellow Search Engine Land contributor Debra Mastaler, who recently advised businesses running SEO campaigns to keep on top of the latest developments in the field of link building.

She suggested following the blogs written by official representatives of Google, Yahoo! and Bing will be a good start in this area.

The statement, “non-keyword related terms can be a potentially good strategy in making a website rank more highly on search engine results pages” is not completely clear to me. I’d like to understand this better.
