A key to making the most of link building via blogs is to have a long-term working relationship with authors, according to one expert.

Link builders 'should forge relationship with bloggers' Writing for Search Engine Watch, Jeremy Bencken told marketers using professional link building services that they could choose from an array of options in order to garner success, including communicating with them before expecting any returns.

Among some of the ways companies can show interest is to promote their posts on Twitter, joining their community on MyBlogLog and even advertising on a blogger’s own page.

In addition, he advised marketers to participate in the same online communities or perhaps lavish praise on them and their work, but Mr Bencken stressed that such relationships needed weeks and months to gel.

However, Ross Hudgens warned Search Engine Journal readers that SEO professionals faced a dilemma when it comes to link building, whereby they may find when they try to link out, they make content harder to discover via sites like Google or Bing.
