The increase in internet shopping is causing more and more enterprises to invest in online marketing and improve their web presence, it has been claimed.

Internet Shopping 'Encourages Online Marketing' Writing for Marketing Week, Liane Dietrich, managing director of LinkShare, explained that over the past year, there has been a growing emphasis on SEO services and the advantages that affiliate networks can bring to firms.

She pointed out that although some businesses are still wary of affiliate marketing, they have no cause for concern as those that have made "in-roads" into the sector are seeing the benefits.

According to Ms Dietrich, "the rules of the online retail landscape have changed" and companies must take this into consideration when selling their products.

She said that consumers will be searching for an item online and "well-planned, well-targeted affiliate marketing campaigns will make sure they find it in the right place".

Recently, Jim Kendall told the Daily Herald that pay per click is an essential online marketing tool for businesses.

Wonder how long the ‘Net will support the booming # of SEO firms… Or are we even close to saturation yet?

Like most things, I suspect market forces will prevail. Those SEO companies who offer a good service will survive and those who don’t… won’t!
