Companies are putting more money into their online advertising efforts, a new study has found.
According to the latest IPA/BDO Bellwether report, there was a marginal increase in overall marketing spending in the third quarter of the year, with this improvement being chiefly driven by the strong performance of internet advertising.
Andy Viner, head of media at BDO, said that marketing expenditure is expected to rise as a whole for 2010, with online advertising playing a large part in this welcome news for the industry.
"Internet advertising continues to exhibit the fastest rate of growth, as firms recognise the importance of a greater online presence and look for increasing return on investment through technology-led marketing solutions," he stated.
Earlier this month, Search Engine Journal commentator Ann Donnelly advised those employing pay per click services as part of online advertising efforts to carefully choose which keywords to bid on and which regions to target.
