The search trend data provided by Google could be useful for online companies looking to target the largest possible audience of Christmas shoppers, it has been advised.

Google's Search Trend Data 'Can Help With Targeting Festive Shoppers' Sheila Parker, product manager for the Google Affiliate Network, said the service highlights what searches are being conducted by consumers as the festive season starts to move into its busiest phase.

Meanwhile, the Find Products feature allows website publishers to browse through information on advertisers' product pricing, image size, category and description.

"By leveraging Google's search trend data, the enhanced Find Products feature within your Google Affiliate Network account and product level reporting, you can optimise your affiliate ads for the best performing products," Ms Parker said.

According to a recent blog post by Kristin Hall, a spokeswoman for the Google AdSense team, the vast majority of the search engine's largest advertisers will be running display campaigns over the course of the festive season.
