With the Fifa World Cup in full swing, advertisers and marketers have been busy creating promotions to entice consumers and Google has been giving insights as to what browsing football fans are searching for.

Google Provides Insight into World Cup Searches The internet specialist provided SEO services clients with a breakdown of which soccer-related queries are proving popular and, according to Jaime Forman-Lau, consumer operations strategist writing in Google’s Official Blog, the volume of interest in the build-up to the 2010 tournament is slightly down compared with 2006.

Furthermore, searches for big name players such as Cristiano Ronaldo are proving a big hit with supporters around the world.

The expert also revealed that, globally, interest in ‘england world cup’ far surpassed ‘usa world cup’ in the build-up to the match between the two, which finished 1-1 on Saturday night (June 12th).

The month-long event finishes on July 11th, with the final taking place in Johannesburg’s Soccer City.
