If businesses want an effective way to promote themselves on the web, they should consider running a competition.
This is according to Rob Ousbey, who noted that this is one of the most effective ways of guaranteeing link building success.
Writing for the SEOmoz blog, he explained that giveaway competitions attract links from a range of authoritative sites and domains, which can provide various opportunities for firms.
Furthermore, they also increase brand awareness and attract new audiences.
Mr Ousbey added that competition can also "be great for data collection – it’s fine to ask the entrants for their email address and whether they’d be happy for you to send them emails again in the future".
One organisation that has recently reaped the benefits of focusing on its paid links is children’s charity NSPCC.
Development director Stephen George told Civil Society that by using services on Facebook to generate new leads, it saw a marked increase in activity.
