Companies involved in the clothing industry should establish an online presence to take advantage of the growing number of shoppers heading to the internet to make purchases.

Fashion-Conscious Shoppers 'Are Heading Online' According to Tina Spooner, director of information at e-retail organisation IMRG, the clothing sector has continued to outperform other industries in terms of online sales for a number of years, with 2010 being no exception to this.

"The number of younger consumers shopping online has increased considerably with these fashion-conscious shoppers enjoying all the benefits of internet shopping, including increased choice and competitive prices," she stated.

She said online shoppers are less concerned with brand loyalty than traditional fashionistas, with browsing and researching products from a variety of companies commonplace on the web.

Her comments follow the publication of the latest IMRG Capgemini e- Retail Sales Index, which revealed a 33 per cent increase in online sales for the clothing sector during 2010 so far.
