Online companies looking to generate more publicity and sales for their business should include a Facebook Like Box on the purchase page of their website.
According to Search Engine Journal commentator Brian Carter, users of SEO services should also focus on building their number of Facebook fans, in order to generate potential consumer leads.
He pointed out that a Facebook Like button is likely to be clicked by anyone willing to purchase a product from a company's website.
Mr Carter stated that it is also possible to get people to become a Facebook fan by running a competition only open to such users.
"You can add them [new fans] to your database of contest entrants immediately," he explained. "This increases your fanbase and gets some word of mouth out about you as well."
Earlier this month, Mike O'Neill of the All Facebook blog explained the social networking site is trialling a new search results systems which ranks results on the number of "likes" they have received from users.
