Expert Warns Marketers on Usability

Marketers are being warned to prioritise usability by one online expert.

Expert Warns Marketers on Usability Writing for Key Relevance Blog, Chris Silver-Smith is drawing professionals concerned with boosting the profile of their company online, including those who use SEO services, to Google’s interest in making the internet experience as efficient and as fast for people as possible.

As we reported yesterday, blogger Jon Baron highlighted the search engine’s decision to prioritise speed more in its results pages.

Mr Silver-Smith believes that usability is already becoming more of a factor and other elements in the construction of a website that have increased in importance, such as company information, prices, contacts and locations, need to be considered too.

He added: "Knowing Google’s heavy focus upon usability factors, consider that if you’re not doing iterative usability testing and adjustment for user experience, you really may not be doing ‘Advanced SEO’."

The expert also drew people’s attention to free Google site speed tools available to marketers, but appears to suggest that this is just one part of online strategy along with SEO.
