Search Engine Watch commentator Gareth Owen stated link building that is relevant and done in the right context can have a dramatic effect on a company's position in search engine rankings.
"SEO is still a numbers game at its heart – do enough of the right things and you'll rank number one," he stated.
As a result, Mr Owen recommended that companies build up a database of relevant websites which they develop strong business relationships with.
This will help give website visitors "added value", as well as having a positive impact on SEO, the columnist went on to suggest.
Earlier this month, Greg Shuey, a commentator for the Search Marketing Weekly website, stated that employing guest bloggers on a website can aid link building and help to push a website further up search engine results pages.
