Firms looking to boost their SEO efforts should pay attention to their domain name.

Domain Names 'Should Be Keyword-Rich' An advice piece for Search Engine Watch suggested users of SEO services optimise their URLs and ensure they are full of keywords.

"Having a keyword-rich domain name and creating a sound information architecture followed by proper page naming conventions can put you on the fast track for SEO success," it states.

The article likens domain names to real estate, saying it is all about location and gaining authority by having a strong web address.

It is advisable to at least try to get hold of a title that includes the most important keyword of the business and services on offer, but this is not always possible.

A previous guide from the news source also claimed it is important to give a name to home pages and other points of the site that clarify what is on offer and the relevance to a visitor's needs.
