Businesses can add quality links to their site by utilising social media service Twitter to build up relevant connections, according to an industry expert.
Writing for Search Engine Watch, Ron Jones described how the micro-blogging site has a lot of potential for use in a professional link building strategy, which has led to popularity among marketers.
In order to get the best out of the service, he recommended Tweeting "often and consistently" and keeping focused on a specific topic.
Mr Jones also suggested that it can be beneficial to work out who the major players are in an industry and then networking with them.
"This may not be the first thing you think of when you think about Twitter, but it can be one of the best tools to gain targeted, relevant, and natural links to your site," he explained.
Recently, Ann Smarty wrote on Search Engine Journal that the most important factor in building up effective links is "proper organisation".
