Consumers Offered “Huge Array of Products” on the Web

Online retailers offer consumers a wide variety of choice when buying presents for loved ones, without the stress normally associated with shopping, according to one industry source.

Consumers Offered 'Huge Array of Products' on the Web Colette Wade, marketing director at Webtrends, pointed out that the public has many different resources at its disposal when searching for the right purchase.

In her opinion, this changes their shopping habits, which may affect how companies employ SEO services in their marketing strategies.

Ms Wade said: "Online retailers have distinguished themselves from high street shops by giving consumers offers and access to a huge array of products, without a huge amount of effort."

She noted that people are now more concerned about hiding their web history from the recipients of gifts, since more shopping is being carried out online.

A survey published last month indicated that sales on the internet saw a year-on-year increase over the festive period.

On Sunday December 27th, transactions were up 17.9 per cent compared to the same day in 2008.
