HighPosition.net suggests that internet users inspire much of the change and with many more people using smartphones and mobile internet to use search engines, it could be that firms need to factor this in.
It notes that 20 per cent of all queries using Google involve "localised searches" with many being on mobile devices.
Indeed, the article suggests that future search engine optimisation (SEO) may have to adjust its focus "to meet future demands of a mobile consumer base".
However, these are not the only means available to organisations that may be looking to increase sales.
