Clothing companies are among the brands taking advantage of the growing popularity of online shopping.
Tina Spooner, director of information at e-retail organisation IMRG, explained that online clothing sales have grown by more than 2,000 per cent since 2001 and there are currently no signs of this expansion slowing down.
She noted that many web-based fashion retailers such as Asos are now moving into different international markets and are expected to "reap the rewards" of increasing their size and scope.
"With the UK fashion industry worth around £20 billion to the UK economy, it is no surprise that this is one of the strongest retail sectors online," Ms Spooner added.
According to recent figures from Kelkoo, shoppers are expected to spend around £3.8 billion over the internet when the January sales come into force after Christmas.
This will represent a 12 per cent increase on the amount purchased last year and mark UK consumers out as the highest spenders in Europe.
