Businesses ‘Should Create Mobile-Friendly Websites’

Online companies should ensure their websites are mobile device-friendly, it has been suggested.

Businesses 'Should Create Mobile-Friendly Websites' Alden DeSoto, a member of the Google Analytics team, told users of SEO services that usage of the mobile internet has exploded in recent years.

He said that in September 2008 there were fewer than 300 visits to Googlestore.com from BlackBerry, Android and iPhone devices but in July 2010 there were more than 13,000 hits from such phones.

The official added that Google Analytics has a Mobile Devices report function that may be useful for those with mobile sites.

"You can see how many visits you received from each mobile operating system, how many pages they visit on average, how much time they spend on your site [and] conversion and ecommerce information," said Mr DeSoto.

In August, Google Analytics introduced a 'weighted sort' algorithm, which allows users to choose which metrics – such as goal conversion rates and new visitor percentages – they want to compare.
