Companies which have successfully implemented an online marketing strategy have been advised of the growing importance of the mobile internet.
Writing for the Google Analytics blog, Feras Alhlou of E-Nor explained that those businesses which had seen the potential of the web early on and invested in things like SEO services were now reaping "great benefits".
"Whereas the web's ROI has proved rewarding, the possibilities in 'mobile' have yet to be discovered," he added.
Mr Alhlou said there is plenty of potential for the market, especially when organisations consider the extremely large number of consumers currently using smartphones such as the iPhone.
He went on to advise companies that they can get started with their mobile marketing campaigns by beginning to monitor the amount of traffic they are generating from such devices.
Earlier this month, Gordon Zhu, a member of the Inside AdWords team, explained that there are four billion mobile phone owners around the world at the moment, which offers exciting possibilities to marketers.
