Building Links ‘is Fundamental to SEO’

A key part of search engine optimisation (SEO) is the process of building links, according to one industry expert.

Building Links 'is Fundamental to SEO' Writing for Clickz, Julie Batten explained that link building is an on-going activity, so it is important that people stay organised, since this will allow them to understand the impact that their efforts are having on their website.

In her view, the process is made a little easier by having a list of targeted keywords, potential link partners and a selection of blogs and forums.

Ms Batten noted that it is best to aim for around three to five keyword phrases, in terms of the areas where a marketer wishes to boost their search ranking.

She commented: "These keywords will ideally be used in the anchor text – the text contained within the hyperlink to your site – that you provide to your link partners."

This week, Julie Joyce wrote on the website Search Engine Land that 2010 could see increased popularity for links that drive traffic as opposed to ones that boost reputation alone.
