Bing has surpassed Yahoo! as the second most popular search engine behind Google.
According to new statistics from advertising network Chitika, Bing overtook Yahoo! in January of this year, posting a 7.8 per cent audience share compared to Yahoo!'s 6.6 per cent.
The trend has continued as the year has progressed, with July 2010 seeing a 10.6 per cent share for Bing and 6.1 per cent for Yahoo!, reports Search Engine Land.
Users of SEO services were advised that Google remains far and away the most popular search engine, with 81 per cent of the internet traffic recorded by Chitika last month.
The measurements were recorded on the basis of how many visitors left a search site to visit a website in Chitika's network.
Bing is soon to begin powering Yahoo!'s search results, with companies advised to test out which of their keywords need to be altered ahead of the transition.
