Bing has introduced an Inbound Links feature to its Webmaster Tools site.
The search engine has given website owners the opportunity to retrieve data about links to their pages in a simple manner.
Under the system, users will be able to view the number of inbound links arriving at a site over a period of time, while URL and anchor text details will also be provided.
It is also possible to export the link building information offline for further analysis.
Steve Ballon, programme manager for Bing, said: "We received plenty of feedback from site owners and SEOs that expressed the importance of this data to better understand how their sites are ranked in Bing and to make the right improvements."
Earlier this month, Eric Enge, a columnist for Search Engine Land, said properly-done link building can be an effective way of achieving positive outcomes in search engine results, something that is especially important as the busy Christmas shopping season takes place.
