Companies have been advised to use an analytics tool to help reveal previously unnoticed traffic segments.

Analytics Intelligence Reports 'Can Reveal New Traffic Segments' According to Alden DeSoto, a member of the Google Analytics team, there are some things it is unlikely that users of SEO services will have ever felt the need to check – bounce rates for site visits from Hong Kong, for example.

But it was explained that an alert in an Intelligence report can point out when such a bounce rate has suddenly increased.

"One reason why these automatic alerts can provide so much insight is that they often bring your attention to traffic segments you might never have thought to examine before," the commentator said.

Last week, Kastle Waserman, a communications manager writing on the Yahoo! Search Marketing blog, said that the use of analytics tools helps to give online businesses a better idea of which products and web pages are catching the attention of site visitors.
