A big thank you to everyone who took part in our first ever #koozchat yesterday which looked at the future of PPC including new developments, choosing the right channel and advice for get started with PPC. We had over 120 replies to seven questions and you can see a list of who took part at the end of this post.
One of the biggest paid search developments in the last week has been eBay announcing that paid search adverts “don’t work”. Now, of course we’ve seen thousands of businesses who say that they do work, which made me wonder if perhaps the problem is the way that eBay approached using paid search, which is why I decided to put together a video that explains some of the ways that eBay could use paid search better, but also to use eBay as a jumping off point to explain how paid search can help any business in three core areas. Those areas are: sales, brand, and acquisition. Those areas affect any business out there.
For the centrepiece of our focus on PPC we asked some of the leading agencies, brands and tool providers to talk about what PPC means in 2013 including hot topics such as Automation, multiple country strategies, mobile optimisation and designing the perfect PPC advert. We also end with a look at how people can get started in PPC, so whether you are a seasoned expert or want a new online marketing strategy you will learn something new.
Today saw the final ever Linklove conference and we were there to send it off in style with the Distilled team and another fantastic line-up of speakers including Rand Fishkin, Ade Lewis, Wil Reynolds and Ian Lurie. And boy did the conference go out with a bang!
With a Panda update planned for this weekend and a big Penguin update predicted in Q2 2013 there are plenty of algorithm changes on the horizon. But what will these updates target? And could there be a whole new type of update on the horizon?
We asked sixteen of the Koozai team to speculate on what’s next to come:
At Koozai we’ve always spoken about PPC but it tends to often get overlooked in favour of tactics such as SEO and Social Media, especially with the recent claims from eBay. Yet even with a great inbound marketing strategy in place there’s still a lot of value that can be gained from paid channels, and that’s exactly what we want to highlight through a week of special PPC content starting on Monday.
For each and every one of us somewhere along the line the SEO industry has turned us all in to robots. We tried to fight it but the desire to appease the Google robot finally hit us all and I‘m sure we can all admit at one point or another to using tactics that may have seemed a bit “robotic” or formulaic.
If there’s one single change you should make to your website in 2013 it’s to embrace responsive design. If you’re not aware of what responsive design is, it’s when you go to a website that resizes its design to fit the device that it’s on; whether that be a mobile, a tablet, a desktop, or even bigger displays than that.
In our biggest Infographic ever we look at over 65 books that have inspired and helped the Koozai team.
